Word 2007 Commands in GDP, by Arlene Zimmerly

This Word file is a compilation of all the Word 2007 commands presented in the Word 2007 Manual. It gives you a quick list of all the new Word 07 features so you can prepare specifically to teach the Word 2007 commands that your students will need to know when they transition to Word 2007.

Word 2007 Guide: Word 2003 to Word 2007 interactive command reference guide (for download or online)

One of the biggest challenges you will have in transitioning to Word 2007 is being able to find your favorite Word 2003 commands in a completely different way and in completely different places.

This visual, interactive reference guide helps you find your favorite Microsoft Office Word 2003 commands in the new 2007 interface. You will see the familiar Word 2003 screen; and when you rest the mouse pointer over a Word 2003 menu or button, you will see screen tips to help you learn about the new location in Word 2007. When you click the command, you will see an animation of the location of the command or button in Word 2007. You can access the guide online or download and install it on your own computer for easy, reliable access.

One of the easiest ways to get help in Word 2007 is to point to a command on the Ribbon, and read the screen tip for more information. If you see the message “Press F1 for more help.” at the bottom of the screen tip, continue to rest the pointer on the command and press F1 to get more information.

Microsoft Discussion Groups, Word General Questions

One of the best ways to learn about common questions or, even better, some of the more advanced features of Word is to browse the discussion groups. Try posting a question and you will see how responsive the users of this group can be. Expand the menus as follows to drill down to the Word group: English, Office and Desktop Applications, Word. From that point, Word New Users might be a good starting point. Use the “Search for” box to type in keywords and you’ll be amazed at the treasures you find.
